How this site is made

Who publishes NBAAnalytic, which other websites share its owner, how the articles are written, and how the numbers in them are checked.

Who publishes it

NBAAnalytic is published under its own name. The site is owned by an independent publisher who also runs these websites:

Many articles link to DataField (datafield.dev) for background on a statistical method; it is run by the same owner. None of these sites is affiliated with the NBA, a team, a broadcaster or a data vendor.

How the articles are written

The articles, explainers, tutorials and calculator write-ups are written with an AI model, Claude, made by Anthropic, working from public data and the sources named in each piece, under the owner’s direction. The owner decides what is published and when.

Until September 25, 2026 the site carried a personal byline. It now publishes as NBAAnalytic, because the writing was never one person’s first-hand account. No article describes anyone’s own experience of watching or playing the game. Where an article says “we”, it means the site.

How the numbers are checked

  • Computed figures. Data pieces are computed by scripts that pull the data from the named source; the article states the source and the retrieval date. The exhibits built on the bundled 2023-24 data layer can be redone from the files served at /data/data_layer/.
  • Cited facts. Formulas, rule changes and history are stated with their source.

If a figure cannot be verified, it is left out and the article says so. Corrections are marked on the page with their date.

Publication dates

The 20 articles published when the site launched on June 4, 2026 had been given earlier dates, from mid-May to early June. On September 25, 2026 they were corrected to June 4, 2026, the day they were created. Three more, written on July 5 in a catch-up round and dated July 2 to 4, were corrected to July 5. Every other article is dated on or after the day its page was first built.

Why an AI model

It makes it practical for a small site to work through full seasons of public data, recompute every figure from source, and show the working on each page. It does not replace the rule above: a number that cannot be traced to a source is not published.

Advertising and contact

The site is paid for by display advertising through Google AdSense; the privacy policy describes how. There are no betting tips and no sponsored articles. Corrections and questions go to contact@nbaanalytic.com.
