This policy explains what information is collected when you visit nbaanalytic.com, how it's used, and the choices you have. It's written to be read, not just to exist.

Who runs this site

NBAAnalytic is an independent website at nbaanalytic.com; who runs it is described on how this site is made. Throughout this policy, "we" means the site and its owner. You can reach us about privacy at contact@nbaanalytic.com.

Information collected

NBAAnalytic is a static website. There are no accounts, and you are never asked to submit personal information through a form. The information involved in your visit falls into three buckets:

  • Information you send us directly. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to track corrections.
  • Standard server logs. The site is served by Microsoft IIS on a server we operate. Like any web server, it writes a request log that records technical data such as your IP address, browser user-agent, and the pages you request, which we use for security and reliability. Those logs are not combined with anything else to identify you, and they are not shared with anyone.
  • Analytics and advertising data. The third-party services described below set cookies or use similar technologies to measure traffic and, if the site carries ads in the future, to serve them.

Cookies and similar technologies

A small amount of data is stored in your browser for the site to work and to remember your preferences — for example, your light/dark theme choice is saved in your browser's local storage. That preference never leaves your device.

Beyond that, cookies on this site come from the third-party analytics and advertising providers described below. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time; the site will still function, and your theme choice will simply reset.

Google AdSense and advertising

The site may carry display advertising through Google AdSense in the future; it does not today. If it does:

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-TZ1MS5BDLT) on every page of this site, to understand which articles are useful and worth expanding — for example, aggregate page views and general location and device categories. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes an abbreviated form of your IP address; the data is used in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally. Those cookies are covered by the consent banner and the opt-out mechanisms described above. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics storage is denied by default until you consent; everywhere else it defaults to granted, so analytics cookies may be set unless you decline through a consent or opt-out message shown to you, or block cookies in your browser.   • To operate, secure, and maintain the website.
  • To understand, in aggregate, what content readers find valuable.
  • If the site carries advertising in the future, to display it.
  • To respond to emails and process corrections.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your rights and choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information, or to opt out of certain processing (including under the GDPR and the CCPA/CPRA). Because we hold very little personal data directly, the most effective controls are usually your browser's cookie settings and the advertising opt-outs linked above. Children's privacy

NBAAnalytic writes about professional basketball statistics and the methods behind them — regression, sampling error, shot-location data — for an adult general audience. It is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction): there is no child-directed content, no games, no toy or character material, and nothing on the site is marketed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and if we learn that a child has sent us personal information by email we delete it. Because the audience is general rather than mixed, the site is not tagged as child-directed for advertising purposes.

Articles link out to sources like Basketball-Reference and NBA.com. Those sites have their own privacy policies, and we are not responsible for their practices.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as the law changes. When we do, we'll revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be reflected prominently on this page.
